Beyoncé has shared an emotional story about how her husband Jay-Z grew his hair out to help their daughter Blue Ivy feel more confident about her own hair. The revelation came in a new video titled The Blueprint, documenting Jay-Z's six-day hair transformation ahead of his May performance in Philadelphia.
In the video, narrated by Beyoncé, she explained that their daughter, now 14, was around five years old and struggling with insecurity about her hair. 'When she told her father that, it inspired Jay to grow out his hair,' Beyoncé said. 'We really wanted her to love and embrace every inch of her gorgeous curls.'
The video also showed Blue Ivy helping to detangle her father's hair. Jay-Z proudly asked her, 'What are you doing Blue?' to which she replied, 'Detangling his hair.' Beyoncé concluded that the process was 'a family affair' requiring 'patience and love.'
Jay-Z recently opened up about fatherhood in an interview with GQ, saying being a dad 'gives everything meaning.' He also spoke about the support he received from his family, particularly Blue Ivy, following a since-dismissed assault lawsuit filed against him in December 2024. 'Blue has this jersey with 'Jay-Z' on the back. She put it on one day... I was just in the corner, like tears coming down,' he recalled.
