Thalia Zane, the mother of actor Billy Zane, has died at the age of 95. She passed away 'surrounded by her loved ones' shortly after her birthday, the 59-year-old 'Titanic' star announced in a statement on Instagram on Wednesday.
Billy Zane paid tribute to his mother, describing her as 'a dynamo with incredible humour, great taste and enough creative and emotional support for friends and extended family.' He added: 'A good egg. A great Dame. A wonderful mother. And a loyal and loving wife of 67 years.'
Thalia Zane was married to William Zane Sr., who died from COVID-19 in 2020. She is survived by Billy, their daughter actress Lisa Zane, 64, and grandchildren Ava, 14, and Gia, 11. Billy has Ava and Gia with his ex-fiancée, model Candice Neil.
Following the announcement, tributes poured in from fellow actors. Rochelle Rose, who co-starred with Billy in 'Titanic', wrote: 'So sorry for your loss Billy. What a fabulous woman! May her memory be a blessing.' Tia Carrere and Jeremy Piven also expressed their condolences.
Billy and Lisa grew up in a showbiz household, as Thalia and William were professional actors. The couple, who were of Greek descent, also founded a school for medical technicians.
