Landman star Ali Larter has revealed that Taylor Sheridan was only on set three times during the second season of the series, with the creator leaving the show to the capable hands of director Stephen Kay.
Speaking to People, Larter, who plays Angela, said Sheridan made a point of being present for the white truffle scene in the premiere to ensure everything matched his vision. "He kind of just let the train barrel ahead," she said, praising Kay, who directed all ten episodes. "He is such a gift to the show. He's so immensely talented."
Larter felt that season two helped audiences understand what the show really is, given its blend of tones. "Don't be surprised — we're going to take you on a roller coaster," she teased, promising high action, dramatic scenes, romantic moments and comedy. Of Angela, she said the character may often be "up to no good" but has the best intentions and a deep heart.
Separately, lead star Billy Bob Thornton offered an amusing insight into his real-life dynamic with Larter. Appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, he joked that she is always having to pull up his trousers before filming.
Thornton admitted he has "never really had what you might call an ass", while Clarkson joked that she has "way too much" and they "even each other out". He then revealed he wears women's jeans in real life – "These are women's black Levi's size six," he said, pointing to his outfit – and that Larter performs the same rescue off-camera.
"Our relationship is not a lot different off the screen," Thornton said. "So, one way or the other, we'll be out at a restaurant, and she'll come up behind me and pull up my pants."
