Ashleigh Butler, the owner of Britain's Got Talent winner Pudsey, has spoken of her grief following the death of her beloved dog. Pudsey, an 11-year-old crossbreed, was put down last Thursday after a short battle with leukaemia.
Butler, who won the talent show in 2012 with Pudsey, described him as her best friend. Speaking on ITV's This Morning, she said: 'It's sad anyway, but it was so quick. No words can express just how much I will miss him.'
Pudsey was given to Butler as a birthday present when she was 11. She recalled: 'My parents had bred him and I really wanted to keep him. On my birthday they gave me a box, and I thought it was a Nintendo DS, so I started shaking it. It was an instant connection.'
Butler will now team up with a new performing dog, Sully, who has lived with Pudsey for the past four years. She said: 'Sully was always going to take over but I didn't expect it to happen like this. Carrying on what Pudsey started will help me.'
