Former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini is aiming for a deep run at SW19 this year, facing Grigor Dimitrov in a third-round clash on Centre Court on Saturday. While much attention has been on the players' romantic histories—Dimitrov has been linked to Maria Sharapova and Nicole Scherzinger—Berrettini's own love life has drawn significant headlines.
Berrettini, 30, previously dated Australian tennis pro Ajla Tomljanovic but his most talked-about relationship was with Melissa Satta, an American-born Italian model and television presenter 10 years his senior. The pair began dating in 2023 but split in early 2024. Before Berrettini, Satta was married to former Tottenham and Barcelona midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, with whom she shares a son, Maddox Prince.
Satta's Revelations About Intimate Life
During her marriage to Boateng, Satta made headlines for candid comments about their sex life. She claimed, "The reason why he is always injured is because we have sex seven to ten times a week. I hate foreplay, I want to go straight for it. I prefer to be on top so that I can be in control." However, she was cautious about being labeled, telling Italian media: "You have to be very careful about what you say in football, especially when it comes to sex. Just because we have sex so often doesn't make me a nymphomaniac."
Berrettini's Career and Relationship Aftermath
Berrettini and Satta's relationship lasted just over a year. The tennis star reflected, "What I can say is that we had a beautiful, intense relationship and we have great respect for each other. I won't go beyond this, I don't like sharing my private life too much. Nothing special happened." Berrettini's only Grand Slam final appearance came at Wimbledon in 2021, where he lost to Novak Djokovic. He has not advanced past the fourth round at SW19 since, but a win over Dimitrov could change that.
Berrettini reached the third round after a thrilling first-round victory over Stan Wawrinka, featuring an 18-16 tie-break in the second set, and a four-set win over Arthur Fils. He emphasized confidence, saying, "I think it's really important in us tennis players that you always have the confidence when you step on court. When you don't have that, it means you really have to stop for a little bit and try to figure out why you don't feel confident like that. You can always lose. There's only going to be one winner these next two weeks, so someone is going to lose, for sure. I know my level. I know I can win against anybody. I know I can make trouble for anybody, especially on this surface. I also know that I can lose matches. This fine line between fear and confidence, it's really important in tennis."
