Channel 5's comedy drama Benidorm Is Murder airs its penultimate episode on Thursday, 27 August at 9pm. The six-part series follows Dennis (John Hannah), a disgraced former police officer now living in Benidorm and running a struggling Scottish pub.
His quiet routine is disrupted when Rosa (Carolina Bécquer), an aspiring actress, joins him behind the bar. Her upbeat personality draws Dennis out, and when a series of crimes unfolds across the resort, she pushes him to put his investigative skills back to use – despite local police being unimpressed by his interference.
Together, the unlikely pair investigate cases nobody expected him to crack, with their unconventional partnership repeatedly leading them toward the truth.
Tamzin Outhwaite plays Tiff
Tamzin Outhwaite appears as Tiff, Dennis' glamorous and complicated ex-wife, who arrives in Benidorm toward the end of the series. Described as a sociable "good time girl", Tiff is searching for a better life but soon becomes caught up in the drama surrounding Dennis and the resort.
She features in the final two episodes, bringing a more personal storyline to the series and offering another glimpse into Dennis's life before Benidorm. Outhwaite is best known for playing Mel Owen in EastEnders, with later roles in New Tricks, Red Cap and ITV's The Tower.
Denise Welch and Alistair McGowan join the cast
Denise Welch plays Ziggy, one of the holidaymakers caught up in the mystery surrounding Mick, the wealthy man found dead on the beach. Ziggy is part of Mick's social circle on Levante Beach and becomes someone Dennis and Rosa need to look at as they investigate his death.
What initially appears to be a "jellyfish incident" soon raises questions, putting those around Mick under suspicion. Welch is known for roles in Coronation Street, Waterloo Road and Hollyoaks, as well as being a long-standing panellist on ITV's Loose Women.
Alistair McGowan plays Vince Starky, another member of Mick's social circle caught up in the investigation. As Dennis and Rosa examine the events on Levante Beach, Vince is among those whose relationships, secrets and possible motives come under scrutiny. McGowan is best known for The Alistair McGowan Show, which won a BAFTA, and has also appeared in Bleak House and Leonardo, alongside a successful West End career.
Chizzy Akudolu appears as Caz
Chizzy Akudolu appears as Caz, the long-suffering wife of Mick, whose death on his sunlounger becomes the focus of the investigation. With questions surrounding Mick's personal life, secrets and finances, Caz quickly finds herself under the spotlight as one of the key suspects.
Dennis and Rosa must work out what she knew about her husband's affairs and whether she could have had a motive for wanting him dead. Akudolu is best known for her decade-long role as surgeon Mo Effanga in Holby City, and has also hosted Sorry, I Didn't Know, competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, and appeared in The Woman in the Wall, Dead Set and Beyond Paradise.
Benidorm Is Murder returns on Thursday, 27 August at 9pm on Channel 5.
