Brooklyn Beckham is now estranged from his parents, David and Victoria, after accusing them of trying to sabotage his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz. The rift reportedly began with a series of unliked Instagram posts.
Engagement seemed harmonious
When Brooklyn announced his engagement to Nicola Peltz five years ago, Victoria and her daughter-in-law appeared to be close. Nicola, a billionaire heiress, posed for photos with the Beckham family and wore a Victoria Beckham dress for her engagement pictures.
Met Gala snub
However, in September 2021, Nicola wore Valentino to the Met Gala instead of Victoria Beckham. After Nicola posted photos from the event, neither Victoria nor David liked them. The same happened after Brooklyn and Nicola attended Paris Fashion Week and appeared on the cover of Vogue Hong Kong, where the Beckhams only liked a solo shot of Brooklyn.
Wedding dress choice
Despite attending the wedding, Nicola again wore Valentino, reportedly because Victoria's atelier did not have enough time to make a dress. Months of rumours followed, and in January, Brooklyn publicly accused Victoria of inappropriate behaviour at his wedding and of trying to sabotage his marriage.
Alison Boshoff's new book quotes a friend of Victoria: "The not liking posts is undoubtedly pointed and petty but ‘is very Victoria.’" The book adds: "She is 100 per cent the kind of person who will perceive a slight and nurse her upset over it."
The Mirror has contacted Victoria's representative for comment.
