Beckham Defends Victoria After World Cup Reaction Goes Viral

David Beckham has jumped to the defence of his wife Victoria after she was ruthlessly mocked for her calm reaction to England's World Cup quarter-final victory over Norway. The former pop star hardly moved a muscle when Jude Bellingham scored a dramatic double to secure England's place in the semi-finals, with fans dubbing the moment 'classic Posh Spice'.

Family Celebration in Miami

As England secured their World Cup semi-final spot, David Beckham and three of his children – Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 15 – joined fans back home by totally losing control in the stands at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. However, Victoria remained statuesque, refusing to break character even as her family's limbs were flying around her. The seemingly unimpressed WAG's nonchalant response has gone viral.

Victoria's lack of emotion was widely mocked online. One football fan wrote: "She wasn’t interested in the slightest. Just there for the photos." Another said: "Classic VB - she can't even crack a smile when England are winning in the World Cup." American comedian Jenny Johnson also shared images on Instagram with sarcastic remarks, writing: "I wanted to take a moment to single out @england’s number one fan Victoria, Lady Beckham!!!! There’s nothing like cheering your heart out for England from home, then they cut to Victoria, and we see that classic Posh Spice smile!"

David's Response

Eagle-eyed David spotted the comments and quickly jumped to his wife's defence. "She was celebrating inside I promise," he wrote with a laughing emoji. "Her reactions were slightly slower than mine." Victoria did later smile for a family photo after the match, which David captioned on Instagram: "What a moment in Miami, I'm so proud of the team tonight reaching the Semi final of the World Cup and to celebrate with my family was so special... Thank you @england for giving our country these moments."

Victoria's appearance at the World Cup marked a return to her WAG heyday, enjoying a perfect view from the family's private box. She kept her eyes firmly focused on the game, despite the recent controversy involving her estranged son Brooklyn's World Cup advert, which appeared to make a dig at his parents.

Support for England

Earlier in the week, David showed his support for the England team by watching them train in Miami with sons Romeo and Cruz. The former England footballer – who owns Inter Miami CF – visited the team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was seen tightly hugging Jude Bellingham and having in-depth chats with players including Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Harry Kane.
