BBC Breakfast Issues Trooping the Colour Update With Bad News for Royals
BBC Breakfast Trooping the Colour Update: Bad News for Royals

BBC Breakfast delivered a significant update ahead of Trooping the Colour on Saturday, June 13, and the news may be unwelcome for the royal family. The King's official birthday celebration is taking place at Buckingham Palace and Horse Guards, with large crowds anticipated. The military will parade in honour of Charles, followed by an RAF flyover. However, BBC Breakfast's royal correspondent Sarah Campbell, reporting live from outside the palace, shared concerning developments.

Presenter Naga Munchetty remarked: "The sun looks glorious reflecting off the palace today. This is an important day in the royal calendar." Sarah replied: "We're really pleased the weather is looking good, it hasn't been over the last few days. You're right, this is one of those rare occasions where the royal family will come together for an official moment. So a little later this morning, the King and the senior royals will go to Horse Guards and watch the parade there."

She continued: "It has been a turbulent year for the royals; there have been questions over properties and money, and of course, Andrew's scandal continues. He won't be here today; he hasn't been to Trooping the Colour for many years." In a further blow, Sarah confirmed that the anti-monarchy group Republic is expected to stage protests, as they have become a regular fixture during the event.

Sarah added: "It has also been a turbulent week for the defence forces, the new defence secretary Dan Jarvis is expected to take his seat, and there have been questions over their readiness. Well, this is a real public way for the forces to show their precision and poise in front of the King and the new defence secretary." The family will later return to the palace for their traditional balcony appearance, with Prince William, Princess Kate, and their three children in attendance.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
