Former Bachelorette Michelle Young reveals health crisis cut honeymoon short

Former Bachelorette Michelle Young has revealed that she and her husband Jack Leius had to cut their honeymoon short by seven days due to a severe health crisis caused by mold exposure.

In an Instagram Story on Saturday, Young explained that she had been battling extreme fatigue, brain fog, panic attacks, heart palpitations, hypoglycemia and POTS-like symptoms for up to a year. After initial tests came back normal, doctors suspected stress and anxiety related to the wedding, but symptoms persisted.

Recent results from a Mycotoxin and Mold test confirmed she had been “severely exposed” to mold. While Young did not specify the type, black mold can cause sneezing, coughing, congestion and eye irritation, and may worsen asthma, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Young and Leius have since moved to a new home in Minneapolis, which she described as “safe.” She is undergoing an intense detox, including medications and IV therapy, and is following a gluten-free and dairy-free diet.

Young said she will share a few honeymoon photos soon but noted that she did not capture many memories because her health was failing. She hopes to return to Italy in the spring to “redo” part of the honeymoon.
