Aubrey Plaza is reportedly pregnant with her first child, with actor Christopher Abbott, over a year after the death of her husband Jeff Baena. Representatives for the White Lotus star confirmed the news to US media, with a source telling People magazine: “It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,” adding: “They feel very blessed.”
Plaza, 41, is due to give birth in the autumn, according to reports. The Independent has contacted representatives for both Plaza and Abbott for comment. The couple first worked together on the 2020 film Black Bear and later appeared in the 2023 off-Broadway revival of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.
The pregnancy announcement comes more than a year after the death of Plaza’s husband, screenwriter and director Jeff Baena, who died by suicide in early 2025. Plaza and Baena began dating in 2011 and married ten years later. In August, Plaza spoke about her grief on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, describing it as “a giant ocean of awfulness”.
Abbott is currently appearing on Broadway in Death of a Salesman and is known for his roles in Girls and Poor Things. He is set to star in the upcoming Netflix adaptation of East of Eden.
