Safiyya Vorajee, the ex-partner of TV presenter and former footballer Ashley Cain, has hard-launched her new man on social media. The influencer shared a photo of herself with her new partner during a trip to Bali, which she described as life-changing. The couple's meeting was serendipitous, as she had originally planned to go to Thailand.
A Magical Connection
On Thursday, Safiyya took to Instagram to post the image, writing: "So happy the universe changed my direction from Thailand to Bali. In a world that’s so big we met exactly where we were meant to feel so happy. God always gets the timing right. Trust in him always. The most magical connection when you feel it in your soul," accompanied by a fingers-crossed emoji and a star emoji.
In another post, Safiyya, 38, shared more about her trip: "There’s something so magical here that has healed parts of my soul I didn’t even realise were still hurting. I’ve grown so much. My nervous system has finally experienced what real calm feels like. I’ve let my guard down, allowed myself to be vulnerable, and in doing that, I’ve found friendships and connections that have changed me forever."
Background and Recent Events
Safiyya and Ashley split in early 2022 after five years together. During their relationship, they became parents to Azaylia, who tragically died at eight months old after battling acute myeloid leukaemia.
Just over a month ago, Ashley's BBC Three series was axed due to historic social media posts deemed "unacceptable" for using sexist and misogynistic language. Safiyya quickly spoke out in his defence on Instagram, saying: "I've seen how much life has changed you over the years Ash I know you're not proud of the words you've spoken in the past, and I know they don't reflect the man you are today. I've seen the father you've been to our beautiful daughter, the love you've carried for her, and the way you've dedicated so much of your life to honouring her legacy and helping others because of it. None of us can change the past, but we can choose who we become because of it, and your doing really well I'm proud of you Sending you love and strength."
Ashley also addressed the controversy, telling his followers: "You may have seen a recent article concerning language I used many years ago that I am not proud of. I don’t deny it. I don’t excuse it. And I certainly don’t condone it. The truth is that these comments were made over a decade ago by a younger version of myself who still had a lot of growing up to do. I cannot change the past and truthfully I have never tried to hide from it. I have always believed that accountability matters. We should all take responsibility for our actions, good or bad. But I also believe in growth, in learning from our mistakes, and in proving through our actions that the person we once were does not have to be the person we remain."
Known for his appearances on Ex On The Beach and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, Ashley said that at the time the posts were made he was very "lost" and "frustrated" after his dream of becoming a professional footballer ended due to injury. He admitted he "lacked maturity, perspective and understanding. Like many young men, I had lessons to learn, and life made sure I learned them."
