Ariana Grande wows at London residency before stepping back

Ariana Grande received a hero's welcome as she launched the UK leg of her Eternal Sunshine Tour at The O2, marking her first UK concerts in seven years. The 33-year-old pop superstar is set to step back from the spotlight once the residency concludes.

Ten sold-out shows at The O2

Grande took to the stage for the first of ten sold-out London shows, with thousands of devoted fans packing the venue. Outside, Arianators arrived in bunny ears, glitter, masks, gloves and fishnet tights, channelling the singer's iconic looks.

Inside, she dazzled in dramatic costumes, performing a career-spanning set including hits such as 7 Rings, Thank U, Next, Dangerous Woman, Into You and One Last Time, alongside tracks from her latest album Petal.

Plans to step back from public life

The emotional return comes as Grande prepares to take a break from public-facing work once the residency ends. Her representative cited “endless, ongoing public scrutiny” as the reason.

Speaking to fans during the tour, Grande said the decision came from “a thoughtful and empowered place” and was “not a reactive or impulsive thing”. She has also faced intense online discussion about her notably petite frame.

Surprise appearance by Cynthia Erivo

During the second night, her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo made a surprise on-stage appearance. The pair performed For Good before a Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again medley, sending the crowd wild.

Erivo, 39, shared an emotional tribute on Instagram, writing: "Ari, my sweet sister, my favorite person to sing with. Thank you for inviting me to share your stage, singing 2 songs that represent such a massive part of our lives. This is what we do it for, for the love of the work and for all of the fans. I missed this. We missed this. And I wish I had more words, but to put it simply, I will never forget this night. Like a handprint on my heart."

Grande replied: "It’ll always come back to this… just as it started. i’m so grateful for this moment & for you… love you always."
