Ronald Araujo's wife, Abigail Olivera, has signaled the family's readiness for a new chapter as the Barcelona captain is expected to complete a season-long loan move to Liverpool. The Reds have reportedly agreed a deal, though an official announcement has not yet been made.
Family's social media hint
Abigail, who has been married to the 27-year-old defender for just over a year and shares two children with him, took to Instagram to post a photo of the family on a plane. The caption, translated, read: "Anywhere, as long as we're together—a new beginning, always hand in hand with him."
Former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez also sent a warm message to his Uruguayan compatriot, saying: "I wish you the best in this great club, friend @RonaldAraujo_4... I'm deeply glad that you can feel what the affection and support of the @LFC fans is like, they are special and they're going to make you feel it that way, now you're a Red too, from afar always wishing you the best ¡VAMO ARRIBA!"
Support through mental health journey
In a recent exclusive interview with Uruguayan outlet Caras, Abigail opened up about supporting Araujo through his mental health struggles, which led to a leave of absence from Barcelona last December. She said: "I told him. 'Trust me. We’ll find whatever help is needed together so you can be okay.' Once he opened up and acknowledged what he was going through, we decided to tell the club and face it all head-on. I didn't care about him earning millions if he wasn't present as a husband and a father."
Family values and charity work
Abigail also spoke about the importance of family values in raising their daughters, Aitana and Adara: "Beyond any professional success, what matters most to us is the family we’ve built, the love that binds us, and the values we try to pass on to our daughters every day."
Her interview was tied to her role as a patron for the Uruguayan charity Kangaroo Foundation, which supports babies born into vulnerable situations. She said: "When I was asked to be a patron, I couldn't believe it. It was something I had always dreamed of. Being there opens your heart and changes you; it was a beautiful experience."
She added: "I come from a humble neighbourhood—Las Acacias—and I’ve always been involved with the church and with children from at-risk backgrounds. I feel I can make a difference from where I stand."
