Kelly Brook has arrived in Australia for her stint on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, but she may face an uncomfortable reunion with hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. The 45-year-old model was confirmed in this year's lineup alongside Ruby Wax, Lisa Riley and Angry Ginge. However, her previous dealings with the Geordie duo are likely to bring back distressing memories.
In 2009, Brook was invited by Simon Cowell to judge Britain's Got Talent but lasted only six days. Simon attributed her departure to the collapse of the four-judge format, but Brook blamed Ant and Dec for 'destroying her career'. She has claimed ITV bosses told her that offending the pair meant 'that was it' for her television work in Britain.
Dec addressed the controversy in his autobiography, recalling that Brook asked him, 'And what do you do on the show?' after being introduced. Simon Cowell then asked if she had seen the show, to which she replied, 'Yeah... well, bits.' An insider told The Sun that heated words were exchanged on both sides, leading to increased tension.
The source said: 'It's been a long time since they last worked together so understandably there is apprehension on both sides. Kelly is determined for I'm a Celebrity to be a massive success – in stark contrast to her last experience working with Ant and Dec.' However, the insider assured that the past won't be brought up during the show, as it would be 'weird' and 'plain awkward'.
Before jetting off, Brook left a secret stash of food for her pet dog. She confessed: 'I am going to miss my dog Teddy and my husband Jeremy.' An insider said: 'Kelly is besotted with Teddy and he is used to fine dining, so Kelly spent all hours making sure the freezer was piled high with his special dinners.'
I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! returns to ITV1 and ITVX on Sunday, November 16.
