Anne Robinson has reportedly split from Andrew Parker-Bowles, the ex-husband of Queen Camilla. The 81-year-old presenter, best known for her sharp put-downs on The Weakest Link, is said to have moved to London and now speaks of the relationship in the past tense.
When asked whether she had previously been dating the 86-year-old, she replied: "I might have done." She added: "It's very difficult to talk about a relationship where part of it is owned by somebody else, so out of politeness I don't talk about it."
Privacy and Past Tense
The comments, reported by the Daily Mail, come as the pair were never photographed together. Despite the private nature of their relationship, Robinson had previously spoken about their partnership.
On the Experience Is Everything podcast, she appeared to hint that they were no longer together. She said: "I believe that real happiness is sharing a life with someone. Joan Rivers said you need somebody to go home to and talk nothing to."
"I do miss that but, on the other hand, I don't want to compromise, so that's where I am, and I don't think it's a bad place, I'm 81, do Pilates and run. I'm not sure I can live full-time with anyone."
Move to London
Robinson and Parker-Bowles are said to have been introduced through mutual friends. Parker-Bowles was married to Camilla, 79, from 1973 until 1994, and they are parents to Tom, 51, and Laura, 48.
Robinson recently confirmed she has had to sell her house in the country due to failing eyesight, describing the decision as "heartbreaking" but necessary. She had lived in the Cotswolds for over 40 years before moving to London.
She explained: "I mean, I'm just selling my house in the country because my eyes aren't good and I can't drive, and I can't be really isolated anymore. But you know, and I don't hear that well. Otherwise I'm OK."
Reason for the Move
In July, Robinson told The Telegraph that she wants to be nearer to her daughter, Emma, as she grows older. She said she does not want her daughter, whom she had with her first husband, the late Scottish journalist Charles Wilson, to worry about her from afar.
"I will be 82 in the autumn. I'm fit, but aware of how many of my girlfriends are trying to cope with an elderly, infirm mother miles away," she said. "I wouldn't pass a driving test. I don't want anyone to dictate my future. I've bought a beautiful fourth-floor terrace filled with trees and plants overlooking Hyde Park. A small flat is attached. Importantly, it is only a few streets away from Emma."
