Anne Hegerty reveals truth about her Governess outfit

Anne Hegerty, the formidable quiz expert known as The Governess on ITV's The Chase, has finally addressed a common misconception that fans have harboured for years. In a recent interview, Hegerty revealed that she does not actually own the distinctive suit she wears on the show.

Speaking to The Express, Hegerty quipped: "Sometimes when we're in costume, people don't realise we're working because people think I own that suit. I mean, trust me, if I owned that suit it would have a terrible accident!" The revelation comes as the beloved Chaser prepares to reunite with her fellow quizzers and host Bradley Walsh for the upcoming spin-off series, The Chase Around The World.

New Spin-Off Series Premieres This Month

The six-episode special will see six duos compete for a £100,000 prize as they take the classic quiz format across Europe. Starting in Rome, contestants will face quiz questions, brain teasers, and mysterious clues as they navigate the city and track down Bradley Walsh at the finishing point. The journey will take them past iconic landmarks such as the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain.

Each episode follows teams as they race through a different European city. The pair that finishes last in each location must then go head-to-head with two Chasers in a high-stakes elimination round, according to reports from The Mirror.

Bradley Walsh Shares Behind-the-Scenes Insights

Host Bradley Walsh gave viewers a taste of what to expect from the new series. "I would describe it as The Chase... but around the world! It's out and about. It was very different doing it on location, in these incredible places, instead of being in a studio. I've been locked in Elstree Studios for 17 years!" he said.

Walsh added: "The locations were unbelievable. I loved it, I really did, but then again, I wasn't chasing around, literally chasing around, the cities we were in." He recounted a particularly emotional moment: "In one city the couple that came in last were devastated, and I mean devastated. One of them couldn't even bring themselves to look at me. They were so upset."

However, the despair was short-lived. "But then they get the chance to play against The Chasers and they went and beat them! So they stayed in the contest and were able to play in the next round at the next city - it was brilliant to see! I mean, it was really great. All of a sudden you're saying, 'All right, well forget that now. You're now moving onto the next city. You're still in the race.'"

Walsh concluded: "It was great to watch because their despair turned into such joy. It's a great dynamic, and it's a very simple but effective end to this type of show."
