Anne Hegerty Clarifies Misconception About Her Chase Outfit
Anne Hegerty Exposes Chase Outfit Misconception

Anne Hegerty, known as The Governess on ITV's The Chase, has addressed a widespread misconception about her iconic outfit. Speaking ahead of the new spin-off series The Chase Around The World, Hegerty revealed that fans often think she owns the suit, but she does not.

Hegerty said: "Sometimes when we're in costume, people don't realise we're working because people think I own that suit. I mean, trust me, if I owned that suit it would have a terrible accident."

New Spin-Off Series: The Chase Around The World

The six-part special will follow six pairs competing to win £100,000 as they tackle the quiz show across Europe. Starting in Rome, contestants must answer questions, solve puzzles, and decipher cryptic clues to navigate through the city and locate host Bradley Walsh at the finish line. The route passes landmarks such as the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. The last-placed team faces a head-to-head against two Chasers in each city to stay in the competition.

Chasers Recall Filming Experiences

Fellow Chaser Shaun Wallace, known as The Dark Destroyer, recalled being recognised by a stag party in Lisbon. He said: "When Paul and I did it, there was a stag party there in Lisbon, when they recognised us, they went nuts. I will always stop and take photographs with people who recognise us because it's my way of saying thank you to the public, and they love the show and it's our way of giving back." He asked fans not to post photos until July to avoid spoiling the location.

Hegerty recalled a similar incident in Rome where she and Mark Labbett were spotted and had to "hide behind newspapers." She added: "It happened in the Alps too, where everyone's like 'Woah, it's The Chasers,' and I'm like, 'The fact that we're in costume indicates that we're actually filming so go away.'"

Bradley Walsh Teases Emotional Moments

Host Bradley Walsh described the new series: "I would describe it as The Chase... but around the world! It's out and about. It was very different doing it on location, in these incredible places, instead of being in a studio. I've been locked in Elstree Studios for 17 years!"

Walsh recalled an emotional moment: "In one city the couple that came in last were devastated, and I mean devastated. One of them couldn't even bring themselves to look at me. They were so upset. But then they get the chance to play against The Chasers and they went and beat them! So they stayed in the contest and were able to play in the next round at the next city - it was brilliant to see!"

The Chase Around The World starts Thursday, July 16, at 9pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player, and continues weekly.
