Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway has revealed a key parenting lesson she learned from the Princess of Wales. In a past interview, Hathaway shared that she was inspired by how the Prince and Princess of Wales communicate with their children.
Getting down to the child's level
Speaking to the Sunday Times, Hathaway explained that she noticed the royal couple's technique of getting down to their child's level to speak with them. She said: "They get down to the child's level and speak to him while looking him in the eyes so that he feels empowered."
She added: "I thought it was great. I started doing it with Jonathan." It is believed that Hathaway still uses this parenting approach with her children today.
A long-time fan of the Princess
Hathaway has also been a supporter of the Princess of Wales since Catherine married into the Royal Family. Over a decade ago, on Good Morning America, a young girl asked the actress who her favourite princess was. Hathaway replied: "I think right now my favorite princess is Kate Middleton. I think she's lovely and she makes me very happy. And that royal wedding, it could just not be beat."
She also praised Catherine's fashion sense in an interview with USA Today after the 2011 royal wedding. Hathaway said: "I think for a few years that kind of slightly dirty look was adopted by Hollywood - you know, the stringy hair, homeless thing... I'm just very grateful to Kate Middleton for making looking appropriate really fun again. So right now my fashion choices are all about Kate Middleton."
