AnnaLynne McCord has revealed she swore off marriage at the age of nine and that her “lingering fears” remained until just before her wedding to Danny Cipriani. The 39-year-old actress, known for starring in teen sitcom 90210, married the 38-year-old English rugby player in the backyard of their home in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Childhood doubts about marriage
Speaking to People, McCord said marriage was not something she had always planned on. She said: “I had seen so many angry divorces and unhappy marriages. My young mind just couldn’t fathom why anyone would make this choice.”
“Up until literally the week before the wedding, when we drove up to the magical Santa Barbara Hall of Records and applied for our marriage licence, I was still facing lingering threads of those early fears.”
Wedding vows and guest list
The couple married in front of 81 guests and made up their vows on the spot. McCord spoke of the deep love she feels for Cipriani, adding: “For me, now, getting married is this wildly sacred ritual of bringing my soul home. When I came to earth my soul split in two.”
“I didn’t know the other half had been living in the United Kingdom as a rugby player all this time. This marriage is the return of my whole soul. We get to walk each other home.”
She also said: “He is this fierce presence and his love is like fire. I used to think I was getting burned, now I see how refining and purifying his flames are.”
Cipriani said: “It is a deep honouring of our souls for the path we’ve walked in this and other lifetimes. To be choosing and honouring this divine blessing is the greatest gift. It is beyond my wildest dreams.”
Wedding registry and past relationships
The pair used the US site Honeyfund, an online cash and honeymoon registry platform, to list different contributions guests could make towards the wedding. The registry included donations for flowers, catering, as well as the wedding cake, with guests also able to donate any amount from 10 US dollars (£7) up to 5,000 dollars (£3,600).
McCord and Cipriani first met on the dating app Raya about a decade ago and dated on and off for a few years before they split in 2020. They began dating again in 2024 after the former England fly-half split from his ex-wife Victoria Rose, and got engaged in December 2025.
Cipriani has previously been in relationships with model Kelly Brook, the late television presenter Caroline Flack, actress Lindsay Lohan, and he was also linked to TV personality Katie Price. In 2021, he married mental health advocate Ms Rose in the Caribbean – but they split two years later.
McCord previously dated Prison Break star Dominic Purcell and they had an on-off relationship between 2011 and 2018. The actress is also known for starring as Eden Lord in Nip/Tuck before starring in 90210 from 2008 until 2013. Cipriani retired from professional rugby in January 2024 following a career that included winning 16 caps for England as well as two spells at Wasps and stints at Melbourne Rebels, Sale, Gloucester and Bath.
