Anna Faris says son Jack is trying to convert her to Christianity

Anna Faris has revealed that her 14-year-old son Jack, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Pratt, has asked her to become Christian. The Scary Movie star, 49, said she has been actively pushing back against his religious beliefs as he follows in his father's footsteps.

Anna's response to her son's request

Speaking on Chelsea Handler's podcast, Dear Chelsea, Faris explained that she did not grow up with religion, unlike her son. 'He is religious. I didn't grow up with religion. He's asked me to accept Jesus Christ [as my saviour],' she said.

'And I told him I would do anything for him, including this, but it's going to take a whole lot of long conversations,' she added.

Challenging Jack's beliefs

Faris said she has been provoking debates with her son, whom she praised as 'solid as a tugboat emotionally'. She described challenging him on certain beliefs, including asking whether he thinks it is a luxury to be pro-life, to which he replied 'Maybe'. She also asked his opinion on 'mega pastors', which he called 'the worst'.

'So it's like: "Okay, he's getting there,"' she said, adding that she is 'appreciative that he's examining religion the way he is in terms of recognising hypocrisy.'

Jack's early health struggles and Chris Pratt's faith

Jack was born nine weeks premature in 2012 and suffered a severe cerebral haemorrhage. Faris previously revealed she and Pratt were 'so scared' at the time. In 2014, Pratt said Jack's survival 'restored his faith in God'.

'We were scared for a long time. We prayed a lot. It restored my faith in God, not that it needed to be restored, but it really redefined it,' the Marvel star told People.

While accepting an award in 2017, Pratt told the crowd: 'I would not be here with the ease and grace I have in my heart without my lord and saviour, Jesus Christ. God is real. God loves you, God wants the best for you. Believe that, I do. Learn to pray. It's easy, and it is so good for your soul.'

Faris and Pratt divorced in 2018. Pratt later married Katherine Schwarzenegger, who was raised Catholic and for whom faith is a big part of her life. In 2025, Pratt told The Christian Post: 'I care enough about Jesus to take a stand, even if it costs me. It could cost me everything, but I don't care. It's worth it to me because this is what I'm called to do, it's where my heart is.'
