Australian rock musician Angry Anderson, lead singer of hard rock band Rose Tattoo, has been hospitalised after suffering a cardiac arrest. The 79-year-old, born Gary Stephen Anderson, is currently receiving the treatment and care he needs, according to a statement from his family.

The family said: "On behalf of Angry and his family, we would like to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming messages of support, love, and kind words. Your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes mean more to Angry and his family than we can express. We would like to let everyone know that Angry suffered a cardiac arrest and is currently in hospital receiving treatment and the care he needs."
They added: "At this time, we kindly ask that you please respect the privacy of Angry and his family as they focus on Angry, his treatment, and his recovery. We appreciate everyone's understanding and ask that you continue to keep Angry and his family in your thoughts and prayers during the days ahead."

The family also thanked fans for their "kindness, understanding, and continued support," noting: "It is comforting to know just how many people are thinking of Angry and wishing him strength in his recovery."
Angry Anderson has been with Rose Tattoo since 1976 and is now the longest-surviving remaining member of the group. He has also performed with rock bands Buster Brown and the Party Boys. As a solo artist, his 1987 song Suddenly reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart and became a global hit.
Five of Angry's Rose Tattoo bandmates have tragically died as a result of cancer. He has since become an advocate for men's health and once appeared in a TV campaign promoting the awareness of prostate cancer.
