Alison Hammond was noticeably absent from the latest episode of This Morning on Friday, June 19, with Angela Scanlon stepping in as a replacement. The 51-year-old presenter typically hosts the ITV show on Fridays alongside Dermot O'Leary, but she was missing from the broadcast.
Dermot O'Leary and Angela Scanlon Kick Off the Show
At the start of the programme, Dermot welcomed Angela to the studio. The pair were seen dancing to the 1976 hit "I Love to Boogie" by the rock band T. Rex. Dermot began, "Hi everyone, welcome to Friday's This Morning! Look who's here, welcome to Angela Scanlon everyone!" as the audience applauded.
Angela responded, "Thank you very much," before Dermot asked, "How are you?" She replied, "I'm very well thank you, happy to be here again!" and Dermot gave her a hug. Kicking off the show, the Irish presenter said, "It's Father's Day this weekend so today, we're celebrating with the songs that remind you guys of the father figure in your life." Dermot added, "Whether it's your dad, grandad, stepdad, someone that knows your dad, we want to hear about them, as long as they're guys, and [it's] music that means something to you."
Viewers Confused by Alison's Absence
Alison's absence did not go unnoticed by viewers, especially after she mentioned her upcoming appearance on the show during an interview on Good Morning Britain earlier this week. Teasing the Friday edition, Alison told Susanna Reid and Martin Lewis on Wednesday, June 17, "[I'll] be back on Friday... We've got Jason Mimosa on Friday, that's gonna be fun!" Susanna corrected her slip-up, laughing, "I think it's Momoa!"
Viewers were left confused when they tuned into This Morning to find Angela presenting instead of Alison. One person wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Interesting, seems to be a last minute substitution. Haven't they referenced a few times this week that Jason Momoa would be in the studio with Alison and Dermot?" Another added, "No Hammond presenting today," while a third said, "No Alison."
