An American has taken to social media to ask the Tartan Army "what do we do now" after England knocked Norway out of the World Cup quarter-finals on July 11. With the 2026 World Cup final now only a week away, many fans are searching for a new team to support.
England's Quarter-Final Victory Over Norway
In a tense match to secure a spot in the semi-finals, England clinched a 2-1 win over Norway after a second goal from Jude Bellingham in extra time. As a result, Scotland's neighbours will face Argentina on Wednesday, July 15.
American Fan's Dilemma Goes Viral
As the tournament nears its end, some fans have confessed they no longer know who to support. In a bid for advice, one American took to TikTok under the account @alisoneagleemoji, posting a video captioned: "We are getting to the end of the World Cup and I don't know who to root for."
In the clip, she said: "What do we do now? What on Earth am I supposed to do now that Erling Haaland is out of the World Cup? Literally every team that came over here, partied and had a good time, and wasn't locked in on the game, is gone. So who am I supposed to root for? France? I could never root for France, so what are we doing?"
She then called out the Tartan Army, explaining: "I hate to tell my new friends from Scotland this but I may have to root for England because number one their team is actually super good... and they beat Erling Haaland today. So what do we do now in this situation for people whose teams are no longer in the World Cup and who think that rooting for Argentina is what seven-year-olds do, because that is who my son will be rooting for? What do we do now?"
Mixed Reactions from Viewers
A variety of comments were left under the post, with many opting for a neutral stance. One person shared: "All my favourites are gone. Now I'll just be like Elmo and say 'I hope both teams have fun.'" Another advised: "Don't root and watch the game as neutral. Never lose and always win." A third made their stance clear: "Norway gone... end of tournament... turn off TV."
While some viewers were happy to gain more supporters for England, others refused new members. One person grumbled: "How can you support England after being against them for the last few weeks? Support the refs." Another pleaded: "No, don't root for us, every team you've rooted for has lost. We don't want your bad vibes. Stay out of it..."
However, one Scot added: "A few Scottish people are routing for England. We are rare."
Upcoming Semi-Final Matches
Ahead of the England vs Argentina game on July 15, France will face Spain on Tuesday, July 14, to determine who claims the first place in the 2026 World Cup final.
