Alison Hammond has opened up about her relationship with boyfriend David Putman, saying she is 'so grateful' he chooses to spend his life with her. The 50-year-old presenter, who has been dating the 28-year-old masseur and model since early last year, described the relationship as going 'really, really well'. She also addressed their 22-year age gap, previously noting that David is 'mature and sensible' while she is 'so not', making them well-matched.
Speaking about the impact of being in love, Hammond said it makes her 'more patient' and 'kinder' because she always has someone to care for and who cares for her. Despite her happiness, she confirmed there are no current plans for marriage or a wedding, explaining: 'We live together and we're happy the way it is. I don't need a ring to show my love to somebody.' However, she added that if David proposed tomorrow, 'it wouldn't be a no'.
The Birmingham-born star, who rose to fame on Big Brother in 2002, also discussed her Christmas plans, saying she intends to 'tone it down' this year. Instead of hosting a large lunch for at least 12 people, she hopes to go to a restaurant with her son Aiden and David, avoiding the cooking and washing-up. Hammond has had a busy 2025, appearing in four major shows including The Great British Bake Off, This Morning, Alison Hammond's Big Weekend, and Alison Hammond's Florida Unpacked.
Turning to television, Hammond expressed strong interest in the role of co-presenter on Strictly Come Dancing, suggesting she would be ideal for Claudia Winkleman's current position. 'They'd be silly not to go for me,' she said. She named Davina McCall and Amanda Holden as potential partners for the role, although she joked that suggesting them might be 'doing herself out of a job'. Hammond credited her success to being herself and bringing joy to others, saying she believes she can help people through her work.
Hammond also highlighted the Specsavers Home Visits service, which she has been promoting. She noted that nearly half of carers say the people they look after miss vital appointments, and she wants to raise awareness of the free service after shadowing one of the company's optometrists.
