Alexa Chung was seen hiding her ring finger at a London event on Tuesday, fuelling reports that she is engaged to actor Tom Sturridge. The model, 40, attended Bistrotheque's 20th birthday celebration dinner, posing for photos with her left hand behind her back while wearing a black Molly Goddard dress and dark red stilettos.
The outing comes after weeks of speculation that Chung and Sturridge are engaged. She was first spotted with what appeared to be an engagement ring at friend Henry Holland's 40th birthday party, and later flashed a ring on her wedding finger during Paris Fashion Week in February.
An insider told The Sun that the couple is "over the moon" and planning a "classy" wedding ceremony for the summer. The source said: "Alexa has confirmed to her friends that she is indeed engaged to Tom... They're a great match." The wedding is expected to be a smaller, more intimate affair with close friends.
Chung has previously expressed indifference to marriage, telling Porter magazine in 2018: "I just don't get why marriage is different from non-marriage... I think having a partner in life must be quite nice but I don't need a wedding day per se."
The model has had high-profile relationships with Alex Turner, Alexander Skarsgård, and Orson Fry. Sturridge, 39, has a daughter with ex-girlfriend Sienna Miller, whom he dated from 2011 to 2015. The Standard has contacted representatives for both Chung and Sturridge for comment.
