Katie Price is facing fresh questions over her finances after a video emerged showing her counting a wad of cash while bankrupt. The footage, released by her ex-husband Alex Reid, shows the former glamour model lounging on a sofa in white jodhpurs beside a Christmas tree, saying she is "enjoying counting" the pile of money in front of her.
In the clip, believed to have been filmed in late 2020, Price tells her daughter Princess, who asks about school fees for herself and her sibling with Peter Andre: "Your dad can sit on that," while lifting her middle finger. She also appears to refer to "my London flat", a property that has not apparently been traced by her bankruptcy trustees. Price says: "Does he go on about it a lot? Well it's tough because I'm in bankruptcy to next May now."
Price was declared bankrupt twice – first in 2019 over debts totalling £3.5 million, including £970,639 to HMRC, and again in March over a further £761,994 tax demand. Among her creditors is Reid, who is owed £175,000 in High Court damages and costs after Price revealed a sex tape he says was filmed without his consent.
In a video statement, Reid said he was "spear-heading a campaign to expose the truth" and that "the truth will now be heard". He is seen watching the leaked footage and reacting with comments such as "this is unbelievable" and "she just admitted she lied". The Mirror understands the one-minute-38-second video has been sent to Price's bankruptcy trustee.
A representative for Price said the video had been shared with the Trustee in Bankruptcy several months ago and that she had "fully complied" with investigations. The cash featured did not belong to her, and the property referred to had been dealt with in financial settlement proceedings arising from her divorce from Peter Andre. Trustee Farheen Qureshi said both bankruptcies are still live and that she is "seeking realisations from various third parties".
Price had earlier celebrated the end of six years of "hell" after being discharged from both bankruptcies, calling it a "great achievement". However, a source suggested the video was "the first solid proof" that she deals in cash, adding: "There are lots of people owed a lot of money who now realise they are unlikely to ever get it."
