Alex Jones Emotional on Son's Birthday After The One Show Absence

Alex Jones, the 46-year-old host of BBC's The One Show, became emotional as she reflected on her eldest son Teddy's seventh birthday. Taking to Instagram Stories on Monday, she shared a photo of balloons in her family home, including a giant silver '7' and a football-shaped balloon, with the caption 'The years are flying by'.

In a video message, Jones said she had taken the day off work to celebrate. 'I feel really reflective,' she said, seated in the sunshine. 'It's because Ted turns seven today. We had a party with all his class yesterday. It was brilliant but chaotic. You don't really absorb anything.'

Jones, who shares sons Teddy and Kit, four, and daughter Annie, two, with husband Charlie Thomson, spoke about the passage of time. 'They tell you to absorb it and hold on. Their childhood goes in a flash but of course you do. You hold on so tight and still there's nothing you can do about it to slow time down.'

The presenter added that the family planned to go for burgers after school and see the film Wonka. 'It's all good and I feel super happy and grateful to have him and his brother and sister. But it's a funny old thing, isn't it?'
