Alex Jones became visibly emotional as she delivered a heartfelt message to viewers during The One Show's 20th anniversary special. The Welsh broadcaster, who has hosted the BBC programme since 2010, was reunited with former colleagues and joined by current co-presenters for the hour-long celebration on Friday, August 14.
Anniversary Reunion and Nostalgia
Alex presented the programme with Roman Kemp, accompanied by the current presenting team of Angellica Bell, Clara Amfo, JB Gill and Vernon Kay. Previous hosts Christine Lampard and Matt Baker returned to the famous green sofa to reminisce about their time on the show. A pre-recorded segment featured original presenter Adrian Chiles, who fronted the first episode in 2006 alongside Nadia Sawalha.
The anniversary edition was filled with nostalgia, from revisiting unforgettable guest appearances to screening archive footage. Moments before the closing credits, Alex addressed the audience directly.
Emotional Thanks to Viewers
Looking into the camera, the mother-of-three said: "I just want to say a huge thank you to the team and crew that work relentlessly hard in this programme to make it a brilliant show for all of you every day, thank you to all of the guests for entertaining us and being generous their time." She continued: "Thank you to all of my co-hosts over the years. I've been so lucky to sit next to all of them."
She added: "Lastly thank you to you at home, you're the most important in all of this, thank you for being with us every weekday. It's a real privilege for us all to be with you at seven every night." She then introduced musical guest Tom Grennan, who closed the special with his hit single A Little Bit Of Love.
