Alex Duong, known for his role on the CBS series Blue Bloods, has died at age 42 after a battle with a rare and aggressive cancer. The actor and comedian passed away early Saturday at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica.
Family friend Hilarie Steele confirmed that Duong suffered septic shock the night before his death. “He was comfortable and thankfully out of pain,” she said on a GoFundMe page set up to support his memorial service and his daughter’s education. “He was alert enough to say goodbye to his little girl.”
Duong was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and fast-moving cancer, after experiencing severe headaches behind his eye. His death has shocked the entertainment community, where he was admired for his talent, warmth, and comedic voice.
In addition to his television work, Duong was a respected stand-up comedian known for his sharp wit and observational humour. He is survived by his wife Christina and five-year-old daughter Everest.
