Hilaria Baldwin has acknowledged that her marriage to Alec Baldwin, which features a 26-year age gap, may appear 'ridiculous' to outsiders. The 42-year-old former yoga teacher, who met the 68-year-old actor in 2011 and married him the following year, said the relationship could be mistaken for a 'bad SNL sketch'.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Hilaria admitted: 'Take a 27-year-old yoga instructor married to a rich and famous older man — it sounds ridiculous.' However, she insisted that the union has 'worked out, luckily', and that the couple often 'poke fun at each other' within their family.
Hilaria, who has seven children with Alec, emphasised that they are equals in the relationship, contrary to expectations that Alec might dominate. 'I think people expect that Alec wanted somebody he could boss around, and we're on the same level together,' she said.
The couple prioritise date nights to maintain their bond, often enjoying dinners at home or out. 'We just let each other be, and I think that's one of the reasons our relationship has gone on as long as it has, because we are polar opposites and so different,' Hilaria explained.
Alec, who joined Hilaria at an event for her Spotlight magazine cover, praised his wife as a 'very special person' and said he knew she was the one from their first meeting. 'She was a hard worker and I really admired that. She's beautiful beyond measure, inside and out,' he added.
