DJ Afrojack has revealed he narrowly cheated death after a metal blade smashed through his car windscreen, missing his face by inches. The 38-year-old took to social media to share the terrifying ordeal, comparing it to a scene straight out of the horror film Final Destination.
The Terrifying Incident
In an Instagram clip, he displayed his shattered windscreen with the metal blade still lodged in it. The position of the blade indicated it had burst through the windscreen over the central console, coming perilously close to both the driver and any front seat passengers. DJ Afrojack, whose real name is Nick Leonardus van de Wall, overlaid the video with the caption: "POV: Final Destination but it's not a movie."
Final Destination is a film franchise centred around a group of people who cheat death, only to be picked off one by one in a series of improbable incidents orchestrated by Death itself. He also expressed how "lucky" he felt to have come out unscathed: "We got lucky, will post full update later." The caption was accompanied by a series of distressed face emojis.
Fan Reactions
Fans were quick to rally around Afrojack, with one writing: "Brother... so glad you're safe." Another commented: "Glad you are ok bro. God's protection is with you." A third added: "OMG so glad you're ok fam. That's scary AF."
Further Updates
The DJ subsequently posted further videos and images of the stricken vehicle, which was being driven by his friend Nick Fuso, writing: "Sometime life sends me a reminder of how lucky I am to be here. Blessed with my family, blessed with my friends, and blessed with breathing. This was the scariest thing I've ever seen and my friend @nickfuso too, for @fritsvandeclips the second scariest thing."
He continued: "Thanks for the warning, thanks for this life, lets go get more life n more music!! Thanks @nickfuso for not crashing the car after your final destination moment, and tnx to my team (and @officialhardrock) for still getting us to the finish line!!"
Family Support
He concluded by extending a "big thanks" to his wife, Elettra Lamborghini, "for always being there for me even in the scariest moments." The DJ wed the Geordie Shore personality in 2020 at a Lake Como ceremony. Family and friends gathered to witness their vows at what was a spectacular wedding. Elettra, granddaughter of car manufacturer Ferruccio Lamborghini, had her own brush with fame appearing on Geordie Shore in 2017. The couple were engaged for 10 months prior to tying the knot.
Light-Hearted Aftermath
Finally, Afrojack shared a photo from aboard a plane and made light of the incident, which occurred en route to the airport. He wrote: "Team no car made it to Monterrey."
