DJ Afrojack has revealed that he narrowly escaped death after a metal blade smashed through his car's windscreen, missing his face by inches. The 38-year-old Dutch DJ, whose real name is Nick Leonardus van de Wall, shared a chilling video on Instagram showing the cracked windscreen with the blade still lodged in it, describing the moment as something straight out of the horror film franchise Final Destination.
In the video, the blade is seen piercing the windscreen above the central console, dangerously close to both the driver and any front seat passengers. Afrojack captioned the post: "POV: Final Destination but it's not a movie." He also expressed his gratitude for surviving the incident, writing: "We got lucky, will post full update later," accompanied by a series of distressed face emojis.
Fans React to the Scary Incident
Fans quickly flooded the comments section with messages of support. One wrote: "Brother... so glad you're safe." Another added: "Glad you are ok bro. God's protection is with you." A third commented: "OMG so glad you're ok fam. That's scary AF." The DJ later shared additional videos and photos of the damaged car, which was being driven by his friend Nick Fuso at the time.
Afrojack Reflects on the Experience
In a follow-up post, Afrojack reflected on the harrowing experience, stating: "Sometimes life sends me a reminder of how lucky I am to be here... Blessed with my family, blessed with my friends, and blessed with breathing. This was the scariest thing I've ever seen." He thanked his friend Nick Fuso for not crashing the car after the incident, and also expressed gratitude to his team and Hard Rock for getting them to their destination safely.
The DJ also gave a shout-out to his wife, Elettra Lamborghini, saying: "Big thanks to my wife for always being there for me even in the scariest moments." Afrojack married the Geordie Shore star in 2020 in a lavish Lake Como wedding. Elettra, the granddaughter of car magnate Ferruccio Lamborghini, rose to fame on the reality show in 2017.
Despite the terrifying ordeal, Afrojack maintained a sense of humor, later posting a picture from a plane and joking: "Team no car made it to Monterrey." The incident occurred on the way to the airport.
