Relatives of Olympic swimmer Adam Ramsay-Peaty have made an emotional public appeal for him to end his estrangement from his mother. A family insider told the Daily Mail: "Come home and talk to your mother. You know your mum will forgive you anything. Please don't hurt her any more."
The plea comes after the 31-year-old competed under his married name for the first time at this year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He collected three medals but missed out on gold, and later acknowledged that the family rift had weighed on him. "It's hard because I know how hard I've worked. I know the s**t I've been through, which is no fault of my own. It does take a toll," he said.
Family Hits Back
The insider rejected the swimmer's suggestion that his relatives were responsible for his performance. "Adam blaming his family for his failure at the Commonwealth Games is not right," the source said. "You both need to heal. Even the public are turning against you. You have to be careful what you put out in the universe because it always comes back at you threefold."
"We never thought you would treat your family the way you have. All we have done is love you and support you," the insider added. According to the source, a small group of relatives gathered to cheer him on, even as his parents watched from home. "There was a small family gathering willing him on. It's a shame he didn't get the piece of metal he wanted. But bronze is better than naught. We're still proud of him but he seems to have lost some focus, and he's the first one to admit that."
The Rift Since 2024
The breakdown in relations dates back to 2024, when wider members of the Peaty family were not invited to Adam's engagement party or his wedding to Holly Ramsay-Peaty, the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Since then, the situation has continued to deteriorate.
After his races, Adam gave thanks to his wife and his support network, without referring to his parents. "Thankfully, I've got an incredible wife and an incredible support circle around me," he said. His parents, Caroline and Mark, reportedly followed the Games from their home in Staffordshire.
Mother's Rare Statement
Earlier this week, Caroline broke her silence with a statement insisting that she and her husband still supported their son. "He's our son whom we love, whom we supported to reach his aspirations. We continue to support Adam from afar. Our love, our time, our sacrifices were given freely with no expectation or financial reward, just genuinely given with the love any mother and father would do for their child," she wrote.
She also revealed that family members had faced online abuse, describing some of the messages as "vile" and "truly evil". The latest intervention from relatives is more pointed. "Just take accountability of your own actions for once Adam instead of blaming us. The hurt you feel over a medal does not compare to the hurt you have caused your mother," the insider said.
The source accused the swimmer of cutting himself off from those who had backed him throughout his career. "Don't blame your family for your bronze. You need to look closer to home and in the mirror. We love you Adam, that's all we have done, and are proud of what you have achieved but we don't like who you have become. You became famous. You met Holly and you changed."

Despite the turbulent week, Adam left Glasgow with bronze medals in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and a silver in the mixed 4x100m medley relay. He has already targeted the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, saying he would have to "forget the experience I've had this week in my personal situation and learn from it very quickly."
Holly, who is expecting the couple's first child later this year, stood by her husband throughout the championships. In an Instagram post, she wrote: "Proud. Watching your comeback to championship racing has been inspiring. It's not been an easy journey but your determination and faith have never wavered and we will keep going, through the good and the bad together."
