Adam Ramsay-Peaty has hit out at his family in a new interview with The Guardian, saying he wants to feel they have "improved as people" before he can move towards reconciliation. The comments follow his tearful rant at the Commonwealth Games.
The Olympic swimmer's parents both did not attend his wedding to Gordon Ramsay's daughter, Holly Ramsay, at Bath Abbey in December 2025. The rift first emerged during the build-up to the ceremony.
Forgiveness takes time
In the interview, Ramsay-Peaty said: "For me, as a Christian, there has to be forgiveness. It doesn’t mean you have to forget, but forgiveness takes time. I’m not saying that it won’t get better but it has to come from a place where I feel like they’ve improved as people, in a sense, and opened that communication up."
He also said he had developed "thick skin" due to his profession, but worried about the effect the public feud had on his wife and son: "I care about my wife, I care about my son. I care about the relationships that people think I have with my son, and my own family, but that’s my private life."
How the feud began
The feud first erupted when Holly Ramsay did not invite Adam's mother, Caroline, to her hen party at Soho Farmhouse in Chipping Norton, a move his aunt called "divisive and hurtful".
Adam's brother James was later arrested on suspicion of harassment after allegedly sending Ramsay-Peaty threatening messages during his stag do. Adam and Holly married in December, with Gordon Ramsay attending.
Mother's hopes for reunion
His comments to The Guardian came after Caroline shared her hopes for a reunion on Instagram. She wrote: "We continue to support Adam from afar. He’s our son whom we love, whom we supported to reach his aspirations. Our love, our time, our sacrifices were given freely with no expectation of financial reward."
