The family fallout surrounding Adam Peaty's upcoming wedding to Holly Ramsay has intensified, with the Olympian's aunt claiming his mother, Caroline, was told she was no longer welcome at the ceremony while she was caring for her grandson. According to Louise Williams, Caroline received the news as she was returning five-year-old George to the care of his mother, Eirianedd Munro, and had to conceal her distress in front of the child.
Ms Williams said Caroline had already been excluded from Holly's hen do, while Adam included his future father-in-law Gordon Ramsay in his own stag celebrations in Budapest. The aunt also alleged that when Caroline bought a dress for the wedding, Adam and Holly disapproved and offered to buy her another. In comments on Caroline's Instagram post, Ms Williams described the timing of the wedding decision as 'incredibly cruel', adding: 'She had to keep the pain, hurt and betrayal in because no way was she letting her grandson see how upset she was.'
The row has taken a further turn with the arrest of Adam's brother, James, 34, over allegations of sending threats during Adam's stag weekend. Police were alerted by Holly, and James was arrested at his home in Uttoxeter before being bailed. Their father, Mark, spoke out for the first time, saying things have 'got out of hand', and noted 'there's been very little empathy towards Jamie's genuine mental health difficulties'. A source claimed Adam believes Caroline has been enabling James's behaviour, and described the police involvement as 'ridiculous'.
Ms Williams also accused Adam of calling Caroline a 'crap mother' despite her sacrifices, including getting up early for training and the family going into debt to support his swimming career. She said: 'My heart breaks for Caroline. She loves her children so much, and this has broken her.' Caroline has since disabled comments on her social media post, which featured a quote about crying being 'a way your eyes speak when your mouth can't explain how broken your heart is'.
