Caroline Peaty has issued a statement after watching her son Adam compete in the Commonwealth Games amid an ongoing family fallout. The mother said she still loves the Olympic champion and is supporting him from afar, following his emotional bronze-medal performance in the 100m breaststroke in Glasgow.
In an Instagram post, Caroline shared a quote about forgiveness, adding: 'We continue to support Adam from afar. He's our son who we love, whom we supported to reach his aspirations.' She also hinted at a willingness to rebuild bridges, stating the family has moved past 'nastiness and lies.'
Adam, who now goes by the surname Ramsay-Peaty after taking his wife Holly's name, broke down in tears after the race. He blamed the highly publicised rift with his family for taking a toll, saying: 'I know the s**t I've been through, which is no fault of my own.' He added that the criticism online had gone too far, declaring 'enough is enough.'
The swimmer's parents were notably absent from the stands, while his wife Holly, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, cheered him on. The couple are expecting their second child later this year. The feud reportedly began before their December wedding, after Caroline expressed upset at not being invited to Holly's hen party.
