Abbey Clancy has revealed she was left "so upset" after husband Peter Crouch cut their romantic night away short the following morning.
The couple discussed the trip on their Therapy Crouch podcast, recalling how what was supposed to be a romantic break was combined with a surprisingly lengthy shopping trip.
Six hours in a tile shop
Peter explained that they had spent hours travelling to Harrogate to visit a tile shop. The former Liverpool forward said: "We're four-and-a-half hours in a car to Harrogate, to go to this tile shop, Lapicida. Am I saying that right? I thought it was a defensive midfielder, but yeah, we went there. Four hours there, six hours in the shop."
Abbey, who was born and raised in Liverpool, summed up the experience simply: "Decisions, decisions, decisions."
Peter added: "No joke, six hours in there. Oh God. Never seen anything like it."
A 'mucky' evening and an early departure
Abbey had hoped their trip would still give them an opportunity to enjoy some time together away from their children. She said: "I tried to entice Pete, like, you know, let's have a romantic night away. We stayed at, what was it called? Grantley Hall?"
Peter was clearly impressed with their accommodation, replying: "Oh, what place? Oh my God. What a place." Abbey described the hotel as "phenomenal" before being asked whether they had eventually enjoyed the "mucky night away" she had planned.
Her answer suggested the evening was considerably less glamorous than the surroundings. She said: "Well, it was mucky because there was pizza all over the bed. We got so p****d and then got a pizza room service and sat in bed and ate it, so yeah, you could call it dirty."
Peter said the hotel had made up for the unusual evening, adding: "It was like a beautiful place. It made up for it. We had a few drinks."
However, Abbey admitted she was disappointed when Peter had to leave the next morning. She said: "I was so upset that you left early the next morning. He got the train home because he had to go to the suit fitting, and so I had a breakfast for one before I went to the molding factory."
The pair also remembered watching an eclipse during their stay, although Abbey admitted it was not quite the spectacle they had anticipated. Abbey said: "And it's just the setting. We watched the eclipse together. Well, kind of. It didn't really happen, did it?" Peter replied: "Well, we just, we had the glasses."
A previous falling out
The revelation comes after Abbey previously revealed a much more dramatic disagreement with Peter, which saw her initially prepare to give birth without him.
Speaking on Therapy Crouch with longtime friend Liberty, Abbey recalled falling out with Peter shortly before the birth of their son Jack. She said: "I left for the hospital on my own. So I left the house and said, 'You are not coming.' So I was like, 'Pete's not coming.'" She also told him: "You're not allowed to be at this birth, you're not even coming."
Abbey eventually allowed Peter into the delivery room after asking Liberty to be her birth partner, while Liberty recalled briefly stepping away after believing the dispute had been settled. "I know. Yeah, I did. Missed it," she said.
