Abbey Clancy has revealed she felt 'physically ill' after going through husband Peter Crouch's phone and discovering his TV crush on Gladiators star Jet. The model, 40, who has been married to the former England footballer, 45, since 2011, opened up about the spat on the latest episode of their podcast, The Therapy Crouch.
Phone snooping leads to revelation
On the podcast, the Britain's Next Top Model host confessed: "I went through your phone," insisting: "Everyone does that, every girl does that." The former Liverpool player was less than impressed, explaining that she "shouldn't" have gone through his phone. He replied: "Girls, if you’re listening, don’t do that, it’s not nice."
Abbey defended her actions, saying: "But I find out things from you by doing that. I found out you had this crush on Jet from the Gladiators, which I didn’t speak to him for two days after."
Peter's defence and Abbey's reaction
Peter insisted: "But I’m allowed to fancy someone from 25 years ago… That was well before you as well, I was around 14 [when] I was watching Jet." Abbey interjected: "I know, but still knowing my husband fancies someone else…"
She added: "He was like, ‘Abbey, she’s like 60’ and I was like, ‘I don’t care, it made me physically ill’, I was so upset."
Who is Jet from Gladiators?
Diane Youdale, who is 56, competed on the original UK Gladiators series as Jet in the 90s, becoming a firm favourite with fans. Her time on the BBC series ended abruptly in 1996 when she cracked her neck in a near-fatal accident after falling from a giant pyramid.
Reflecting on the accident, she previously told Metro: "My accident was on Pyramid, and I remember I had a contender – who I have met since then – who was a bit bigger, stronger and faster than me. And I pushed off the pyramid with her, they like these aerial tackles because it’s good car crash TV, and I just remember landing here and my bottom was there and she was almost on top of me. By the time I hit the floor at the bottom of the pyramid, my head was in the way."
She recalled landing 'literally pencil-point down' in front of the studio audience and was rushed to hospital, where doctors informed her she had compressed her spinal cord. Diane added of her exit: "I made that choice, and that was to leave. I just thought ‘I’m out of there’. I’m sorry, but that was too close for comfort."
