Former Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw has shared an emotional update on her breast cancer battle, revealing that her lesions have not shrunk as hoped. The actress, best known for playing Maxine Peacock on the soap, posted a tearful video on Instagram after receiving results from an ultrasound scan.
Ultrasound results bring disappointment
In the clip, Shaw explained that she had gone for an ultrasound to check if the lesions had shrunk and to examine a lump she had found on her other breast. She said the lumps on the right breast turned out to be cysts, which was good news. However, the lesions on her left breast had changed from circular to oval but had not reduced in size.
“I don’t know what I was expecting. I don’t know, maybe a few more rounds will be all it takes. But I know they can’t operate until they shrink it,” she said, adding that she had been hoping for a “miraculous miracle.”
A shift to gratitude
The following day, Shaw shared a more positive update, expressing gratitude for the support she had received. In a second video, she said she had woken up early and watched the sunrise, reflecting on the gifts in her life. “Although the whole of this journey’s distance is pretty excruciating most of the time, there’s some major plus signs to how my life has changed,” she said.
She also thanked the “amazing women” who had reached out, saying their messages gave her courage to keep moving forward.
