Tyson Fury will not keep a single penny from his bout with Mariusz Wach, donating his entire purse to charity. The fight takes place at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, before a crowd of 1,500 spectators.
Warm-Up for Joshua Clash
The bout serves as a warm-up for Fury's anticipated clash with Anthony Joshua later this year. Joshua also fights this weekend, facing Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia. Fury's fight will not be broadcast live but will feature in his Netflix documentary series, 'At Home with the Furys.'
Charity Donation
Fury, with a net worth of around £148 million, earned approximately £150 million from his two fights with Oleksandr Usyk. For this fight, he pledged his share to the Father Ray Foundation, which supports orphans, children with disabilities, and disadvantaged youngsters. Earlier this week, £250,000 had already been raised via ticket sales.
Fury said: "I didn't want to give it to a random charity I didn't know. I found out about that one, did research into it, went down there and met all the kids and decided that was definitely the one. A great foundation, a great cause."
Fury's Form and Weight
Fury, who has defeated Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder, insists his best is yet to come. He said: "I'll always be a big name. I still feel the best is yet to come. I don't feel like the world's seen the best of Tyson Fury yet."
He added: "I've been over here [Thailand] since December. Beautiful people, beautiful place. I feel at peace with everything, whereas before I had a lot of pressure on me. I thrive better in a warmer climate and I feel rejuvenated."
Fury weighed in at 265lbs, 26lbs lighter than Wach's 291.4lbs. It is only the fourth time in 39 fights Fury has been leaner than his opponent. After a lighthearted staredown, Fury said: "I'm Mr Slim now."
