Charli XCX has revealed the tracklist for her upcoming seventh studio album, 'Music, Fashion, Film', which includes a collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker David Cronenberg. The album is set for release on July 24.
Album Details and Tracklist
The 33-year-old pop star, known for hits like 'Boom Clap' and 'I Love It', announced the 11-song lineup on Instagram, posting a risqué photo of herself holding a white T-shirt listing the tracks over her seemingly nude body. The album, which runs 30 minutes, features songs titled 'Card Declined', 'Camera', '2007', 'I’m Afraid', 'Yeah', 'Persona', and 'Magic Metal Montana'. The final track, 'No One Lasts Forever', lasts nearly six minutes and features David Cronenberg.
Charli XCX also shared a photo of herself with Cronenberg in a Toronto music studio, where they recorded the collaboration. Cronenberg, 83, is famed for his 'body horror' films, including 'The Fly' (1986), 'Videodrome' (1983), 'Scanners' (1981), 'Dead Ringers' (1988), and 'A History of Violence' (2005).
Cultural Impact and Recent Releases
The album announcement follows the 'Brat summer' trend sparked by Charli's 2024 album 'Brat', which inspired a cultural phenomenon on social media, particularly around fashion. She recently released singles 'Rock Music' and 'SS26', along with B-side tracks available only on physical releases and her dedicated Instagram account.
Charli unveiled the album's title and cover last month, featuring a black-and-white photo of musician John Cale, fashion designer Marc Jacobs, and filmmaker Martin Scorsese, reflecting the album's three themes: music, fashion, and film.
Her latest single 'Wink Wink' dropped nearly two weeks ago. The new album follows her 'Wuthering Heights' companion album for Emerald Fennell's film and her own film 'The Moment', a semi-fictional look at the 'Brat' release and world tour. She has also appeared in other film projects this year, including Pete Ohs's 'Erupcja' and Julia Jackman's '100 Nights Of Hero'.
Charli XCX has achieved two UK number one singles and three number one albums, with hits like 'Boom Clap', 'Guess', and 'I Love It' with Swedish duo Icona Pop.
