Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded Elon Musk the Order of Freedom, recognising the X and Tesla boss for his personal contributions to the "defence of human life and freedom" in the country.
Award for personal contributions
Despite Musk having criticised Ukraine's government at points, Zelenskyy issued a decree granting the award. The decree reads: "In recognition of outstanding personal contributions to the defence of human life and freedom, and the development of relations between the peoples of Ukraine and the United States of America, I hereby decree:"
"To award the Order of Freedom to Elon Musk—entrepreneur, engineer, and head of the companies SpaceX and Tesla (United States of America)."
