Vernon Kay Scolded by BBC Co-Star Over Hair Comment, Jokes About Living with Ladies
Vernon Kay Told Off by BBC Co-Star Over Hair Comment

Vernon Kay was told off by his BBC Radio 2 co-star after failing to notice her new hairstyle. The presenter, 52, joked about living 'in a house full of ladies' as he and Tess Daly navigate their separation.

On-Air Exchange

During his show, Vernon's producer Janine Maya-Smith, whom he calls Janice-Janine, called him and the team 'naughty boys' for not commenting on her new look. 'Not one of you made the effort to say how nice it looks,' she said.

Vernon's Apology

In an attempt to make amends, Vernon told Janine she 'always looks fabulous.' He reenacted the exchange, shouting: 'I will not have it, you three boys, I've had a trim and a colour and none of you have noticed.' Addressing his mistake, he added: 'I should've known, I live in a house full of ladies, do you know what I mean? I should've known. I apologise Janice, it was a rookie error, it was a big mistake Janice-Janine, you look fabulous, my love.' He praised her for keeping the team together. Janine replied: 'That's a nice thing to say,' to which Vernon laughed: 'Are you struggling to find a positive in that? Because it sounds like it.'

Living Arrangements

This is not the first time Vernon has mentioned his home life since announcing his split from Tess Daly in May after 22 years of marriage. Last month, he shared details of a family gathering at their home in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. 'Yesterday, we were tidying up, Amber had a party. Tess and I were running around tidying up and thank goodness that the weather was nice, do you know what I mean, with cleaning up the garden. We had such a good time, it was awesome on Saturday night and very funny. But in the morning, Tess and I were like, 'Woah, better get cracking!''

Split Announcement

The couple announced their amicable separation in a joint Instagram statement in May, saying they remain friends. It is not known whether either plans to move out of their six-bedroom home. Vernon's father Norman commented on the split, saying the pair had 'gone in different directions' and that no third party was involved.
