Charlotte Berman, a contestant from series three of The Traitors, has proposed a new twist to BBC executives: featuring identical twins who play as the same person.
Speaking on behalf of Buzz Bingo, Berman said she has already shared the idea with executive producers. "I have what I think is the master idea which I need to be implemented. I've mentioned this when I've seen and spoken to some of the executive producers," she said.
Twins as one contestant
Berman explained the concept: "It's to have identical twins. I think it would be so funny, so unnecessary, but put a pair of identical twins in there and have them play as the same person. I don't know if they would be allowed a debrief; I can't tell you what the construct would be. For the viewer, that would be so funny. If that happens, you heard it here first."
Berman appeared in series three of the civilian edition alongside contestants such as Alexander Dragonetti, Francesca Rowan-Plowden and Freddie Fraser. The series was won by Faithfuls Leanne Quigley and Jake Brown.
Welsh accent deception
During the programme, Berman adopted a Welsh accent and told fellow contestants she was from Abergavenny, though this was entirely fabricated. While viewers eventually learned of the deception, her fellow players only discovered the truth upon leaving the castle, as she never revealed it during the main show.
The London native has since said she chose the Welsh accent because she believed it was a "trustworthy" accent, and because her mother was originally from Wales, though it could not prevent her elimination. She maintains she has "no regrets" about the attempt, adding: "I feel very lucky to have been such a memorable part of my series. It was a lot of fun, and I think it was very much in the spirit of The Traitors and the kind of camp, pantomime style of this backstabbing parlour game that we're all playing."
Celebrity series returns
The Celebrity Traitors series two begins tomorrow evening (October 1) at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Among the celebrities entering the castle are singer-songwriter James Blunt, Love Island presenter Maya Jama, actor Michael Sheen, and comedians Miranda Hart and Rob Beckett.
