Sydney Sweeney is calling for the release of a cut scene from Euphoria in which her character Cassie pole dances. The 28-year-old actress revealed that she took the scene seriously, undergoing lessons to prepare for the performance.
Deleted Scene Details
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Sweeney explained that the scene involved Cassie and her friend Maddy visiting The Silver Slipper strip club for a photoshoot. Cassie, after seeing the dancers on stage, becomes excited and decides to try pole dancing herself. 'Imagine crazy Cassie on a pole, which was hilarious. But man, these girls are strong,' Sweeney said.
The actress noted that Euphoria creator Sam Levinson informed her a few days before the scene was set to air that it had been cut from the final edit. Sweeney expressed her disappointment but understood the decision. She added that Levinson suggested releasing it as behind-the-scenes footage or deleted scenes, to which she eagerly agreed, saying, 'Please do, because I put a lot of hard work into that.'
Co-star's Perspective
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Alamo on the show, also commented on the deleted scene. He told Collider that the scene was part of a storyline where Maddy is in debt to his character, and that debt would be paid by Cassie working for him. 'She was demonstrating how she was going to work in my club,' he said. Akinnuoye-Agbaje defended the show against criticism, arguing that the situations depicted are realistic.
Reactions and Future
The third season of Euphoria concluded with a controversial ending, leaving fans with unanswered questions. Despite the show's end, Sweeney's desire to share the deleted scene highlights the hard work put into the series. The season finale is available on HBO Max, Sky Atlantic, and NOW.
