Sophie Unveils New Bob at Agricultural Festival
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, showcased a dramatically shorter hairstyle on Tuesday while attending the Groundswell Regenerative Agriculture Festival in Hitchin. The 61-year-old royal, known for her long blonde hair, debuted a new bob after appearing to have several inches cut off. She wore a denim midiskirt, a blue Penelope Chivers blouse, tan boots, and a red friendship-style bracelet.
Recent Hair Transformation
The Duchess seemingly opted for the bob in recent days. Last week, during a two-day visit to Jersey, her hair fell around her shoulders. On Sunday, she participated in the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials on the King’s Norfolk estate, but her hair was concealed under a straw hat.
Andrew Spotted at Same Event
Disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was seen on a rare outing at the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials, where his brother Prince Edward cheered on Sophie. Andrew drove his Land Rover Defender away from the event after watching Sophie compete in the SanDrivingHam Challenge from a secluded area. An onlooker told The Sun: "Andrew sneaked in and sneaked out and definitely didn’t want to be seen. But I saw Andrew leave the field at 10.30am, just after Sophie had ridden her round, then I saw Edward walking towards his car, smiling shortly afterwards."
Sophie and Edward: Reliable Royals
Sophie and her husband Edward, who attended the Order of the Thistle service in Edinburgh with the King and Prince William, are regarded as some of the Royal Family’s most dependable members. They have taken on a larger public profile since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from royal duties. Away from their roles, they live quietly at their Bagshot Park estate in Surrey.
Royal expert Jennie Bond told the Mirror: "Edward and Sophie are a really genuine couple, what you see is pretty much what you get. They do their jobs with as little fuss and flummery as possible - Edward was seen just the other day walking to the Palace rather than being in a posh car, and Sophie will sometimes drive herself to an engagement and is more than happy to manage her hair, make-up and clothes herself."
