Soldier Soldier first aired on ITV more than three decades ago and quickly became a hit among viewers. The military drama premiered on 10 June 1991 and ran until 1997, launching its cast members into stardom. Set in the post-Cold War era, the series rarely depicted actual warfare, focusing instead on training sequences and the impact of service life on personal relationships. After viewing figures dropped following the departure of stars Jerome Flynn and Robson Green at the end of series five, the show was eventually axed, with its final episode broadcast on 9 December 1997 after a 12-episode run. But what became of the original cast? Here's what they've been doing since the programme first premiered.
Miles Anderson
Miles portrayed Lieutenant Colonel Dan Fortune during the first two series, leaving the armed forces after a regimental merger and his wedding to journalist Rachel. Already well-known from productions like The Thirty Nine Steps, Sky Bandits, and The Legend of Robin Hood, he later landed prominent roles in Holby City and Ultimate Force. He also appeared in Hollywood blockbusters such as La La Land as photographer Alistair. Now 78, he is happily married to Bella Merlin and is father to chef Max Anderson and actor Joe Anderson, who has featured in Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 and Outsiders.

His most recent appearance was in The War Between the Land and the Sea, a Doctor Who spin-off.

Since then, he has amassed an impressive array of credits, including Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Thin Blue Line, Keeping Mum, and Killing Eve. He is also celebrated for his stage work and as an accomplished playwright. His latest project, Magic, explores the friendship between Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Harry Houdini. Jerome has also enjoyed a remarkable acting career with roles in Badger, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Ripper Street, and Game of Thrones as Bronn. He previously dated co-star Lena Headey, ending in 2014.
Winston Crooke
