Saturday Night Live UK star Paddy Young was rushed to hospital after cutting his hand with a samurai sword and then passing out. The 34-year-old comedian, who co-hosts the Weekend Update segment with Ania Magliano, shared the dramatic incident on Instagram.
Injury and Hospital Visit
Young posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed, writing: 'Cut my finger with a samurai sword !!!' He thanked friends Bebe Cave, Ed Night, and Horatio Gould for 'breastfeeding me back to good health,' and Sam Campbell for 'bringing the sword to my home and running away when I fainted.'
Additional photos showed Young posing on a sofa with his bandaged hand alongside friends. He joked that his Edinburgh Fringe run was '90% sold out,' while his tendon was '90% lacerated' and 'aura 100% lost.'
Support from Fellow Comedians
Co-anchor Ania Magliano commented: 'Oh no not your beatboxing hand!!!' Co-star Al Nash said he 'felt the aura loss from three scrolls away,' while producer Susia Hall exclaimed: 'Paddyyyyyy!!!!' SNL UK director Will Farrell joked about honour, and comedian Amy Webber thought the arm cast was part of his costume.
Reflections on SNL UK
Earlier this year, Young reflected on his role in the Sky One sketch show, joking that it might help him buy a house. Speaking at the BAFTA Awards, he said: 'We had an interview with Dermot O'Leary and I thought: Surely I'll own a house one day.'
SNL UK has been renewed for a second series of 12 episodes, set to air in Autumn 2026. Producer Lorne Michaels expressed pride in the show and gratitude to Sky for their support.
