Daily Star Sport Chief Tipster Jason Heavey has marked your card for the weekend racing, with Senorita Bonita selected to land one of the season's best races at Newmarket on Saturday.
Senorita Bonita (2.27, nb) is tipped to come out on top in the Tattersalls Sceptre Sessions Cheveley Park Stakes, a race that has attracted a stellar cast with three brilliant fillies going to war. Heavey believes her speed at the business end may just give her the edge in a race to savour.
Senorita Bonita's credentials
Senorita Bonita has a terrific turn of foot, which she showed when winning the Group One Prix Morny in France by four lengths under Oisin Murphy. She earlier beat one of today's big rivals, Libertango, at Newmarket and can confirm the form with George Boughey's talented daughter of No Nay Never.
Earlier, Libertango beat Sun Goddess in the Albany Stakes, which has proved to be the latter's only defeat in six starts. Sun Goddess's latest victory romp in the Moyglare Stakes at the Curragh marked her out as a horse of supreme ability.
Cambridgeshire and Middle Park tips
Erzindjan (3.40) can give champion jockey elect Billy Loughnane his first victory in the bet365 Cambridgeshire at Newmarket. The eight-year-old ran an absolute blinder in the race 12 months ago when storming home to finish fourth. The first three were all drawn low on the far side of the track, and Erzindjan was the clear winner on the stands' side but had little chance of reeling in those in front of him. He is drawn high again, but so are most of the fancied runners, including ante-post gamble Gavriel. Generally a 10-1 shot, Erzindjan is only 2lb higher in the weights than 2025, and Loughnane can deliver him fast and late.
Heavey fancies Orthodox (3.00) to bounce back to form in the Tattersalls Middle Park Stakes. The Group One affair is not the strongest renewal, and Orthodox will be hard to beat if recapturing his Royal Ascot form, which saw him win the Norfolk Stakes easily. He flopped on soft ground in France on his latest start and will be at home on the quick surface.
Other selections across the tracks
Polyxena (1.22) has done everything right in winning both her starts at Windsor. Her novice stakes victory last time can be upgraded as she had a terrible draw and was giving the runner-up 10lb. So her handicap mark of 82 looks pretty lenient, and she gets the vote in the British Stallions Studs EBF 'Jersey Lily' Fillies' Nursery.
Karl Burke thinks highly of the unbeaten Burning Up, who is two from two. He can make a successful step forward in the Group Two Tattersalls Online Royal Lodge Stakes. He is a big horse who seemed suited to soft ground on his latest run, so as long as he handles the track and the quicker surface, he can continue his progression.
The ITV cameras are at Haydock for two races, where Eternal Force (1.35) can resume winning ways in the William Hill Epic Boosts Handicap. King of Light (2.10) can make the most of a high draw in the William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap. Elsewhere, Hypnotised (5.55, nap) is strongly fancied to score at Southwell tonight, while it will be a surprise if Elyam (5.20, nb) does not follow up his recent runaway success at the track.
Future winners
The Anthony Gover won again for this column last week in an apprentice race, which means he escapes a penalty if he is turned out again at Wolverhampton on Monday. Shared Odyssey ran a nice race on debut after being slowly away, and Heavey expects him to step up considerably on his next run. He has entries this week.
